Zadco set for Upper Zakum offers

Clear skeis: Zadco is now ready to proceed on its massive Upper Zakum project in Abu Dhabi.

ABU Dhabi’s Zadco is set to receive price offers within a fortnight for the offshore facilities that will underpin its ambitious multi-billion dollar Upper Zakum (UZ) 750 oilfield expansion project and will follow that up in May by seeking commercial bids for the project’s massive package of ­onshore modules.

J Ray McDermott, National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) and Saipem are taking part in the bidding for EPC1, an offshore facilities package, sources said.

Hyundai Heavy Industries had been shortlisted last year but is no longer in the running, they added.

The tendering process was delayed because of lengthy clarification meetings and technical changes, sources said.

“Zadco is now finally ready to proceed,” said a source. The ­offshore price bids are due in by 4 March.
