* Malcolm Brinded is to step down as executive director of Upstream International at Shell, to be replaced by Andrew Brown, currently Shell’s executive vice-president in Qatar.

* Anadarko Petroleum has promoted chief operating officer Al Walker to chief executive, succeeding Jim Hackett, who move to the new position of executive chairman.

* Connacher Oil & Gas has appointed chief operating officer Peter Sametz as interim chief executive officer.

* American Eagle Energy has appointed Andrew Calerich to its board.

* Salamander Energy has appointed John Bell to the newly created role of group technical director.
