RWE Dea halts bidding for phase two at Breagh

GERMANY’S RWE Dea has put a bidding process on hold for a platform for the second phase of its UK Southern North Sea Breagh development as it continues discussions with partner Sterling Resources about development options.

Mark Hughes, head of development at RWE Dea UK, told Upstream the company had been talking to the market to pre-qualify fabricators but that process had been halted for the time being.

Hughes said: “We have now put that on hold because the partnership hasn’t agreed yet what phase two will look like.

“We are still reviewing our phase-two development options. We don’t expect it go beyond 2012, probably in the fourth quarter.”
