Petrobras in court claim

PETROBRAS is suing Spanish chain-maker Vicinay Cadenas in a US court in Houston for $180 million.

The action centres on allegations over fault for a parted tether that released a floating riser buoyancy can.

The floating riser buoyancy can was to serve the Cascade-Chinook floating production development in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico.

The Brazilian operator accused Vicinay of failing to discover what it said was deficiencies in the riser’s mooring chain which it provided.

The project specifies five freestanding hydrid risers (FHSRs) which are connected to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel.

The FSHRs are suspended by floating buoyancy cans that are moored to the seabed.
