Production up at Husky

INCREASES in Husky Energy’s Canadian operations led to an overall increase in first-quarter production this year.

Output averaged 320,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, up 3% from last year’s 310,000 boepd. The company said the increase was due to higher production volumes in its heavy oil, the Tucker oil sands project and a completed acquisition in western Canada.

On the project front, in mid-March Husky began capturing carbon dioxide from its Lloydminster ethanol plant to be used in enhanced oil recovery. The gas is stored in containers, cooled and compressed into a liquid form to be later injected into reservoirs.
