LLOG lines up fresh US Gulf of Mexico floater

Plans: Llog Exploration chief executive Scott Gutterman

US INDEPENDENT LLOG Exploration is moving forward with a second Exmar-designed OPTI deep-draft semi-submersible production system, pegged for a multi-field project in the Gulf of Mexico.

The junior explorer is planning to install the new floater in the Mississippi Canyon area to develop its “Animal House” film- themed discoveries in the region.

The new semisub will be larger than its first facility, which produces volumes from the Who Dat field, and will act as host to several subsea satellite wells in water depths of about 6000 feet. The new system will be based on Exmar’s OPTI 11,000 hull form. An official announcement regarding the agreement with Exmar is expected as soon as next week.
