Turning the bit on Klalin

PetroChina is planning to drill two delineation wells on the North Klalin gas condensate structure on its Kepala ­Burung block in West Papua, Indonesia, writes ­Amanda ­Battersby.

If either or both wells is successful, PetroChina intends to fast-track its production or development to boost output from North Klalin, which is ­located in the Sorong area.

There is burgeoning gas ­demand in the region that makes for a ready market for new finds on Kepala Burung, which partner RH PetroGas (RHP) refers to as the Basin production sharing contract.
