Duo in preparation to develop gas field cluster

CHINA National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Sinopec are ready to develop a cluster of gas fields in the East China Sea, which will boost activity in a region where it has been limited by a long-running boundary dispute with Japan.

The duo are preparing to exploit as many as five different fields through a stand-alone development that will be centred on a gas processing platform and subsea production system tied in to existing pipeline infrastructure.

The fields that are scheduled for development are the first and second phase accumulations at Pingbei, the first and second phases of Huangyan, which is called Canxue by Sinopec, plus Fangnan combined with part of Duanqiao.
