June launch earmarked for CBM licensing round

Bid round: Indonesia is offering eight blocks in its 2012 CBM licensing exercise.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources will launch its 2012 coalbed methane licensing round, comprising eight blocks, next month.

This bid round will comprise five CBM blocks to be made available via the direct proposal route and three that will be up for regular tender.

The licensing round is tentatively scheduled to be launched on 4 June and relevant documents will be available from the following day, an official at the ministry’s Directorate General of Oil & Gas told Upstream.

The direct proposal blocks are Bontang Bengalon in East Kalimantan, Belawa and Kepala ­Kapuas I in Central Kalimantan, and Barito II and Sekayu II in South Kalimantan.
