Encana sets highest flow rate to date in Tuscaloosa Marine shale

Encana: The Canadian giant is the leader in the play over Louisiana and Mississippi.

ENCANA’S latest operated well in the Tuscaloosa Marine shale in the US has tested at a average production rate of 1082 barrels of oil equivalent per day, the highest flow rate reported to date in the emerging liquids play that spans Louisiana and Mississippi.

The Anderson 17H-1 probe in Amite County, Mississippi, produced 975 barrels of oil and 425,000 cubic feet of gas per day on a 15/64-inch choke with 2119 psi of flowing casing pressure, Encana’s partner Goodrich Petroleum said.

Encana drilled the Anderson 17H well to 12,200 feet with a lateral of more than 7300 feet and was completed in 30 fracture stages. It was by far the longest lateral and the highest number of frac stages for a Tuscaloosa well to date. The Canadian giant has been a leader in the play and…
