Petrofac poised to swoop for Kingfisher pre-FEED

Swoop: Petrofac is set to be awarded the Kingfisher pre-FEED

UK-listed Petrofac is on the verge of securing a major award from CNOOC Ltd for pre-front-end engineering and design work on its Kingfisher oilfield in Uganda where the operator is working towards first oil in 2017.

Sources said CNOOC has issued a letter of intent to Petrofac, with the contract expected to be finalised soon. Petrofac was competing for the job against rivals Technip of France and WorleyParsons of Australia.

As part of the workscope programme, Petrofac has reviewed pre-FEED work previously performed by other engineering houses including process schemes, power generation and flow assurance.

The additional workscope covers the layout of well pads, production and water injection wells, flowlines, central processing facilities (CPF), water pump stations, storage and truck loading schemes as well as reliability, availability and maintainability…
