HRT sees the prospect of riches off Namibia

Brazilian independent HRT Oil & Gas has identified seven prospects to be drilled off Namibia in 2012 and 2013 that it believes have more than 28 billion barrels of oil equivalent in unrisked prospective resources.

“Our seven prospects are located in the Walvis and Orange ­basins and can be drilled by just five exploration wells.

“We believe we can find both liquids and natural gas in our structures, although we are in search of light oil in Namibia,” said HRT America president ­Wagner Peres.

HRT recently contracted the semi-submersible rig Transocean Marianas to carry out a four-well wildcatting programme in ­Namibia.

The company intends to drill first the shallow-water Meerkat turbidite prospect in Block 2815 in the Orange basin. The probe is expected in the fourth quarter.
