Closing in on riser awards

Petrobras is close to awarding the first contracts for subsea riser systems serving four floating ­production, storage and offloading units to be deployed in the Brazilian pre-salt province.

With two gas export risers also up for grabs, the tender will be worth considerably more than $2 billion when all six contracts are awarded, industry sources say.

The riser systems will be located on Santos basin blocks BM-S-11 and BM-S-9, where Petrobras is partnered by BG and Galp Energia and BG Group and Repsol respectively.

Tender specifications were geared toward decoupled systems, including the submerged riser buoy concept, riser towers and lazy wave technology.
