State opens door for offshore leasing

Positives: South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley believes offshore drilling will create both revenue and jobs

US Federal and state legislators from South Carolina have teamed up to push new laws seeking to authorise offshore leasing for oil and gas exploration off the state’s coastline.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, US Senator Lindsey Graham and Congressman Jeff Duncan — all Republicans — said this week that the new legislation will result in new revenue for federal deficit reduction as well as new sources of income, and energy, for the state.
