Four bids in for Bangka

Four out of five pre-qualified industry players responded to a bid call by US supermajor Chevron for the main contract linked to the Bangka gas field development in Indonesia, writes Tan Hwee Hwee.

The Bangka field in the ­Rapak production sharing contract will be developed as a tie-in to the existing West Seno floating production unit.

Chevron has issued a tender for the main engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract involving modification to the topsides, hull, and spread mooring of the FPU.

Five contractors were shortlisted in an earlier pre-qualification exercise, but only four ­attended a pre-bid meeting earlier this month.

The Indonesian unit of ­Japan’s Nippon Steel will be bidding against three other ­local rivals, Meindo Elang ­Indah, ­Timas Suplindo and Raga Perkasa Ekaguna.
