Project finds friends to extend its production life to at least 2030

GUDRUN and other upcoming developments mean a new lease of life for the Sleipner facilities as production from the original Sleipner reservoirs declines, writes Beate Schjolberg.

The Beta West discovery near Sleipner was put into production last year and Gudrun is due on stream in 2014. Gas from the planned Dagny development is also planned to be hooked up to Sleipner.

“With no new fields, production would have been down to zero by 2022 or 2023,” said Marit Berling, Statoil’s production director for Sleipner and Gudrun. Sleipner came on stream in 1993. Now, the gas from Gudrun and Dagny is set to extend the production profile to at least 2030.
