Pensions strike hits Norwegian output

Stoppage: workers from the Skarv FPSO are on strike along with staff from six other installations

Production at seven Norwegian oil and gas installations ground to a halt this week after 708 oil workers went on strike on 24 June over a disagreement about pensions.

The workers are employed by Statoil, BP and catering services provider ESS at the Heidrun platform, the Skarv floating production, storage and offloading vessel, the Oseberg field centre and the accommodation vessel Floatel Superior, which is deployed at Oseberg. The Oseberg shutdown has also caused operator Statoil to halt production from Oseberg C, Huldra, Brage and Veslefrikk A and B, which are tied back to the field centre at Oseberg.
