Contractors lining up for Heera platform bids

Bids due: Contractors are showing considerable interest in ONGC's tender on the Heera field off Mumbai.

Offshore contractors are queueing up to signal interest in Oil & Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC’s) tender for design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a new process platform for the Heera field off India’s west coast.

About two dozen contractors have flagged up interest so far.

“The initial response is very good. But a lot will depend on how many bids are finally placed,” said a source.

Bids for the process platform are due around the middle of August.

Among the Indian contractors that have shown interest, engineering giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Pipavav Shipyard and ­Afcons are considered as serious contenders.

Among the international ­players, Abu Dhabi-based National Petroleum and Construction Company (NPCC), US giant McDermott, South Korean player ­Hyundai, Technip from France, Singapore-based Swiber and Nippon Steel from ­Japan…
