Aminex on track in Tanzania

LONDON-listed junior Aminex has posted a positive test result from its Ntorya-1 exploration well onshore Tanzania, which flowed 20.1 million cubic feet per day of gas plus 139 barrels per day of condensate, writes Iain Esau.

News of the test came just days before the company reported that an independent assessor estimated potential gas resources in its Ruvuma and Nyuni area licences in Tanzania to be 11.4 trillion cubic feet in place.

Ntorya, located in the Ruvuma production sharing agreement, is reckoned to hold 178 billion cubic feet of in place resource with an upside of about 990 Bcf. The well flowed from a 3.5 metre, Lower Cretaceous zone. Aminex chief executive Stuard Detmer said the discovery of condensate “was a surprise”.
