Two key oil and gas bills to pass 'within weeks'

Changing face: Uganda's parliament is set to pass two petroleum bills within the month

The chairman of Uganda’s National Economy Committee said Kampala’s parliament should pass two landmark oil and gas bills within weeks.

Stephen Mukitale told ­Upstream that the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Bill and the Petroleum (Refining, Gas Processing and Conversion Transportation and Storage) Bill, should both pass within a month.

He also reckoned that amendments to the Public Finance Act, which replaced the Revenue Management Bill, will take three months to pass through the legislature because of their late submission.
