Farm-in for MOL at block

HUNGARY’S MOL has farmed into the Karpovskiy Severniy block operated by KMG EP, a London-listed exploration and production division of state-owned KazMunaiGaz, writes Kama Mustafayeva.

Two companies will set up a joint venture to further explore Karpovskiy Severniy, where there is proof of the “presence of a working hydrocarbon system”, KMG said.

The area is extensively covered by seismic data and information gathered from numerous wells. Two deep pre-salt probes will be drilled as the remaining part of the exploration work programme, and further small-scale seismic will be shot.

The 1670-square kilometre Karpovskiy Severniy block is in the vicinity of the Fedorovskiy block and existing discoveries at the northern edge of the Caspian Depression.
