Noble waiting for pointer before Leviathan drive

US INDEPENDENT Noble Energy is awaiting recommendations from Israel’s gas policy committee before deciding how it can best exploit the 17 trillion cubic feet of gas held in its deep-water Leviathan gas discovery.

The Israeli government tasked a committee earlier this year to investigate the best solution to exploit its growing gas resources and how much should be dedicated to domestic and export markets.

Noble chief executive Charles Davidson said: “We expect final recommendations from Israel’s gas policy committee shortly. We’re optimistic about both our domestic and export sales plans.”

He said much of the discussion within Israel is leaning towards a 50:50 split of Leviathan’s resource between domestic and export markets.
