Total's find off Brunei

French oil company Total has made a second deep-water exploration discovery in Block CA-1 off Brunei Darussalam.

Co-venturer Hess said the Jagus East well had hit hydrocarbons.

“This well, along with the previously announced Julong East discovery, is being evaluated and additional exploration and appraisal drilling is planned in 2013,” said Hess.

The Jagus East well was spudded in April using the semi-submersible drilling rig Ensco 8504.

The owners of Block CA-1 are operator Total on 54%, BHP Billiton with 22.5%, Hess on 13.5%, Petronas with 5% and Murphy Oil on 5%.

The joint venture has not yet released any resource volumes for CA-1.
