ENI has discovered 10 trillion cubic feet of gas in-place with its Mamba North East-2 exploration well in Area 4 off Mozambique, boosting the asset’s in-place resource estimate to 70 Tcf.

In adjacent Area 1, Anadarko Petroleum drilled a successful appraisal well on its Atum/Golfinho gas complex, hitting 254 feet of net pay with three more delineation wells to drill.

Eni’s probe was drilled in 1994 metres of water to a depth of 5365 metres, hitting 200 metres of pay in high-quality Oligocene, Eocene and Palaeocene sands.
