Andarko spar ready to roll for Heidelberg find

Fab job: the Pori yard in Finland

US INDEPENDENT Anadarko Petroleum is set to crank up its spar assembly line once again with confirmation that the concept is the chosen solution for the development of the Heidelberg discovery in the deep-water US Gulf.

A successful sidetrack appraisal at the field extended the oil/water contact down structure by about 700 feet, confirming an extension of the field by up to 1500 acres, according to Anadarko.

The results confirm resource potential at Heidelberg of more than 200 million barrels of oil equivalent. Heidelberg is in Green Canyon blocks 859, 860, 903, 904 and 948.

Anadarko has pre-front-end engineering and design work ongoing on the Heidelberg spar. Official sanction of the project is expected in early 2013. Heidelberg will be Anadarko’s eighth operated spar.
