Three to the fore for Total's Kaombo job

Three contractors are set to deliver bid documents to Total within weeks, covering the supply of two large floating production, storage and offloading vessels for the French supermajor’s multi-billion dollar Kaombo project in Block 32 off Angola.

Industry sources said SBM Offshore, Modec and Saipem are preparing technical and contractual bids for submission to Total next month for two converted vessels, each able to store 2 million barrels of oil and handle about 100,000 barrels per day of crude plus 105 million cubic feet per day of natural gas.

Monaco-based SBM is already tipped as the front runner to ­secure the prestigious double-vessel order.
