BP in new plan for Tangguh

BP is expected to submit to the Indonesian authorities this month the revised plan of development for a third liquefaction train at its Tangguh LNG project in West Papua, writes Amanda Battersby.

Company officials have put the estimated cost of the 3.8 million tonnes per annum train three expansion at around $11 billion.

The UK supermajor is aiming to take the final investment decision next year for Tangguh’s initial expansion, and train three could be operational as early as 2017.

The Indonesian unit of Australian outfit Worley-Parsons is believed to be performing the front-end engineering and design work on the expansion of Tangguh’s offshore facilities.
