PTTEP gearing up for M3 appraisal campaign

Pre-front end engineering and design studies are in full swing for the proposed M3 gas project off Burma where operator PTTEP is warming up for a two-well ­appraisal campaign.

WorleyParsons was awarded the pre-FEED work several months ago. Its workscope covers conceptual studies followed by basic engineering up until the end of this year, said sources.

It is widely tipped that M3 will be a standalone development with a shallow-water fixed platform connected via a subsea pipeline to shore.

The concept is similar to the ­Zawtika project, which PTTEP is developing for first gas next year.

Burma does not yet have a ­developed services industry, so PTTEP will have to look regionally for fabrication and equipment services when it is ready to build…
