Trelleborg beefs up in Brazil

SWEDEN’S Trelleborg is expanding its fabrication and servicing capacity in the Brazilian offshore, with an ongoing investment programme at three of its factories in the country.

Trelleborg chief executive Peter Nilsson inaugurated a revamped manufacturing base last week for high-grade maritime hoses, used for offloading or transporting crude or liquefied petroleum gas.

The factory, at Santana de Paraiba, near Sao Paulo, was upgraded following a 2010 acquisition from tyre giant Goodyear, but it is already handling orders from companies such as the 49 20-inch hoses ready for delivery to SBM Offshore.

Trelleborg is also working on hose renewal orders for companies such as Sevan Marine and Teekay and has a contract to supply 43 more 20-inch hoses for the…
