Tullow changes tack as turret system wins day

LONDON-based independent Tullow Oil has made an 11th-hour change to the mooring system it wants to use on the floating production, storage and offloading vessel destined for its Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (TEN) project off Ghana.

Industry sources said Tullow has now opted for an external turret mooring system instead of the spread-moored system originally being considered.

One market source said the late change is unlikely to delay the FPSO contract award beyond the current expected target date of the end of this year.

However, another source said the late change could possibly require new bids to be submitted at the end of the year by Modec and SBM Offshore, the two contractors battling to supply the FPSO.
