Tullow makes fresh oil strike in Lokichar basin

TULLOW Oil has struck oil once again in Kenya, with 30 metres of net oil pay hit by the Twiga South-1 well in the ­Lokichar basin.

This marks the first strike on Block 13T, which is 22 kilometres north of the company’s initial discovery at Ngamia 1A.

Twiga South-1 logged three sandstone reservoir zones, analogous to Ngamia-1, and sampled moveable oil with API quality in excess of 30 degrees. The well’s updip potential will be appraised.

Additional potential will be assessed on test, including a tight fractured rock section below 2272 metres which had hydrocarbon shows over a gross interval of 796 metres.
