Yemen LNG pipeline explosion

The gas pipeline feeding the Yemen LNG liquefied natural gas export terminal has been hit by another explosion.

“Yemen LNG confirms the sabotage of the 38-inch gas pipeline that links the Block 18 to the Balhaf te rminal on the Gulf of Aden,” the company said.

It said the sabotage occurred 173 kilometres north of Balhaf at 12:35am on 16 December.

The pipeline was last bombed on 30 October about 295 kilometres north of the gas liquefaction plant. It was repaired in November.

The Balhaf facility, which opened in 2009, has the capacity to supply up to 6.7 million tonnes per annum, and exports LNG under long-term contracts to GDF Suez, Total…
