Hyundai and Doris on pole for Moho Nord

A pairing of Hyundai Heavy ­Industries and Doris Engineering is in pole position to land a billion-dollar contract to engineer and build a floating production unit for Total’s Moho Nord project off Congo-Brazzaville.

Industry sources said the supermajor is evaluating recently-­submitted technical and commercial bids from three separate groups, but the South Korea-French duo is understood to be the one to beat.

One source estimated the contract value at about $1.2 billion to $1.3 billion.

Working in favour of Hyundai-Doris is that Total is said to want both Moho Nord’s FPU and its tension leg wellhead platform to be built in the same yard.

Last year, Hyundai secured a front-end engineering and design contract covering the TLWP, which is set to be converted into a construction contract…
