US Interior secretary Ken Salazar is to step down as head of the main regulatory agency dealing with US lands and minerals in March.
Salazar’s
departure
after
four
years
had
been
the
topic
of
speculation
over
the
past
few
weeks.
He
was
often
a
target
of
industry
criticism,
and
took
what
was
seen
as
a
more
activist
role
than
his
predecessors
on
oil
and
gas
issues,
and
pushed
ahead
initiatives
to
speed
renewable
energy
development.
