Burma puts onshore acreage on the block

Burma has launched its latest licensing round, offering only onshore acreage including blocks that were not taken up in the April 2011 bid round.

Bids are invited for 18 onshore blocks, 15 of which are being offered as production sharing contracts and three as improved petroleum recovery contracts.

Companies can apply for a maximum of three blocks and must team up with at least one local player to bid.

The Energy Planning Department will provide a list of the registered Burmese-owned companies, said to include state-owned Myanma Oil & Gas Enterprise (MOGE), to foreign companies considering bidding.
