Mozambique halts next round due to law change

Mozambique is to delay the launch of its next licensing round until fiscal and legislative changes currently under way have been formally established.

Jose de Barros, legal advisor to the National Petroleum Institute (INP) — the country’s upstream regulatory authority — said “there have been a lot of companies knocking on the door looking for acreage” since Andarko and Eni had multiple huge gas finds in Areas 1 and 4 of the Rovuma basin.
