TNS is strong contender for Bongkot-tied tender

Potential: the Bongkot field in the Gulf of Thailand

Thai Nippon Steel (TNS) is well-placed for another multi-platform contract tied to Thailand’s PTTEP-operated Bongkot gas project in the Gulf of Thailand.

Bids were submitted last month for the PTTEP long-term contract involving the engineering, construction, installation and commissioning of seven wellhead platforms for the Bongkot fields.

The contract includes an option for seven further structures.

All 14 platforms are due to be delivered over the next two to three years.

TNS has been considered a frontrunner for the contract from the early days of the tender, given that it was executing the previous bundle platform contract for PTTEP.

The experienced contractor also owns and operates one of the largest yards in the Gulf of Thailand.
