Uncertainty could delay Hadrian North semisub

EXXONMOBIL is reviewing its plans for the Hadrian North oilfield development in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico as recent appraisal results have led to uncertainty about the quality of the reservoir.

Industry sources suggest that construction awards of a floating production semi-submersible may be pushed back as the US oil titan proceeds with its latest well appraisal.

“There is some uncertainty about the reserves, or the quality,” claimed one source, as engineering of the facility enters a “standing phase”.

Mustang Engineering in Houston has been working on detailed engineering design of the topsides, while hull design is in the hands of Aker.

Hull fabrication is believed to be between two South Korean heavyweights, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries.
