CNOOC is poised to launch Zhuhai terminal tender

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) will soon start the delayed tender for the engin­eering, procurement and construction contract for its ­Zhuhai liquefied natural gas ­import terminal in China’s southern Guangdong province, writes Xu Yihe.

Sources close to the project said the company has completed the prequalification exercise and the tender could be issued this month.

They said the deal, which is ­intended solely for foreign contractors, will include the terminal and storage tanks.

The tender was delayed from last year due to project rescheduling. Tokyo Gas Engineering completed the front-end engineering and design in the middle of last year.

Sources said CNOOC will ­supply the Zhuhai terminal with gas from Qatar, which has committed to deliver up to 7 million tonnes per annum of LNG by 2015. The…
