Much of the development work on Sandvik’s SAF 3207 umbilical tubes is complete, lacking only qualification testing. Now the company is focused on developing the next generation of ultra-high pressure tubing, says Nigel Haworth, oil & gas business unit manager for Sandvik Materials Technology.
“We’re getting ready for 20,000 psi,” he says. “It’s not enough to just make the stronger material, but to make sure we can produce tubing of that material.”
