A new “containment toolkit” designed to capture oil spewing from a damaged subsea well and to flow it to the surface if attempts to cap a blowout have failed is now ready for use.
The delivery is the latest stage in a collaborative effort by industry to develop an armoury of kit to prevent and fight subsea well incidents after its vulnerability was laid bare by the 2010 Macondo disaster in the Guf of Mexico.
