Lianzi, the first cross- border oil development off central West Africa, lies in a unitised zone created through agreements signed by the governments of Angola and Congo-Brazzaville in 2001 and 2002, respectively.

Mark Dunn, Chevron’s Lianzi project manager, calls the agreements a testament to international collaboration. The protocols developed for the unitised area permit the free movement of personnel, vessels, materials and equipment into and out of the Lianzi unit from either country.
