R&D at heart of thinking as Brazil looks to build success

THE Brazilian ambassador to the UK, Roberto Jaguaribe, recently described BG Group as a “latecomer that might be the big winner” among international oil companies coming to his country.

Jaugaribe was opening a London seminar on research and development in the Brazilian oil industry. The event was heavily attended by British academics angling for Petrobras-funded research projects — the Brazilian giant already has 65 joint industry projects up and running with US and European entities — but it also served as a forum for BG Group to showcase its own plans for R&D in Brazil.
