Chariot’s subsidiary Enigma Oil & Gas has hired the ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig Maersk Deliverer to drill the Tapir South prospect.

The well, on Chariot’s 100%-owned Northern Block 1811A, holds gross unrisked mean prospective resources of 604 million barrels of oil, the London-listed company said on Tuesday.

Maersk’s unit is expected to arrive on site at the end of March and will be drilling in water depths of over 2100 metres to a total depth of 5100 metres at the well some 80 kilometres off Namibia.
