Overall, the rig count in Texas increased by two to 898 but within the state rigs flowed into western portions of the Eagle Ford as well as the Texas Panhandle, according to the latest figures from services giant Baker Hughes.

Oklahoma showed the biggest decline of any state – dropping 11 rigs to total  198 for the week.

Other major producing states, such as North Dakota, Ohio and Pennsylvania posted small gains in their rig counts, bringing their respective totals to 172, 42 and 56.
