The ruling follows a 2012 claim by a Transocean subsidiary seeking $19 million from Providence for the use of semi-submersible rig GSF Arctic III in the Barryroe oilfield off Ireland.

Providence filed a counterclaim against Transocean and, in 2014, won its case after a UK court found Transocean to be in breach of contract.

The court said Transocean "(failed) to maintain various parts of its subsea equipment and that it was not, therefore, entitled to certain amounts reflecting Transocean's own dayrate remuneration".
