The opposition Labor Party said this week that, if elected, it will ban fraccing across large parts of the state’s south west.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia chief executive Deidre Willmott said the ban would, if enacted, come at a significant cost to businesses trying to create more jobs and opportunities in regional centres.

“Western Australia has a long and safe history of successful mineral exploration and our resources industry should be empowered by government to succeed – not strangled by regulation,” Ms Willmott said.

The
