French survey player CGG and Swedish independent Lundin Petroleum have co-operated on developing a new seismic data acquisition technology for shallow to intermediate-depth targets that will be used commercially as soon as next year in the Barents Sea.
The duo launched TopSeis on Monday at ONS 2016 in Stavanger. Based on an original idea from Lundin, the technology has been "specifically designed to overcome the intrinsic lack of near offsets inherent in 3D towed-streamer seismic", CGG said.
