Renco Elang Energy has been forced to abandon the discovery well on the Amanah Timur prospect in the South Block A production sharing contract in Indonesia’s North Sumatra basin.
Joint venture partner Lion Energy revealed the Amanah Timur-1 well had been plugged and abandoned at a depth of 347 metres after attempts to remove a stuck drill pipe were unsuccessful.
This meant the joint venture had been unable to continue to a planned total depth of 570 metres and assess the deeper 800 and 900 sandstone intervals.
