Mosaic to drill Churchie West probe

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Mosaic Oil has contracted Century Energy Services to spud on 8 October its Churchie West-1 exploration well in south-east Queensland.

The well, which will be drilled to a total depth of 2178 metre using nitrogen, targets the Permian Tinowon sandstone that is the productive reservoir in the adjacent Churchie and Myall Creek gas fields. It will also test the early Triassic Rewan formation reservoirs.

Success at Churchie West-1, which is about 2.5 kilometres south south-west of the producing Churchie-3 well, will extend the reservoir fairway from the Churchie field into PL 213.

Partners in PL 213 are operator Mosaic (83.333%) and Santos (16.667%).
